This course meets the 8 Hour Continuing Education (CE) requirements for the HVAC/Mechanical trade as set forth by City of Pittsburgh Department of Permits, Licenses, and Inspections for the 12 month period of March 1st 2024 to February 28th 2025
What are the requirements for the City of Pittsburgh Mechanical/HVAC Trade License renewal?
All Pittsburgh HVAC Trade License must be renewed annually.
Trade License holders are required to obtain eight (8) continuing education units (CEUs) annually to be eligible for renewal.
One CEU is equal to one hour.
How can I obtain my Continuing Education?
The Pittsburgh Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections (PLI) will accept relevant continuing education credits from accredited institutions as listed below:
The International Code Council (“ICC”) Preferred Provider’s Directory.
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry’s (PA - DLI) Uniform Construction Code continuing education providers.
PLI will accept trainings provided by apprenticeship and trade-specific unions programs. NOTE: PLI will review requests outside of those specifically listed on a case-by-case basis; a determination will be made within ten (10) business days from the receipt of the request. This pending determination is not a valid reason for license renewal delays.

Payment of check or money order made out to "Treasurer – City of Pittsburgh," or pay by e-check or credit card at-the-counter or online
Be sure you don't have any outstanding unpaid PLI fees!
If mailing or submitting in person: completed Trade License application
LATE FEES:
A 60-day grace period begins when your license expires.
A late fee will be charged the day after your license expires.
If your license is not renewed within 60 days of expiration, it is considered lapsed and closed.
All contractor and trade licenses expire a year from the date of issuance.
